Photobucket

The Breast Cancer Care Pink Ribbonwalk in association with woman&home is a much loved sponsored walking event that is now in its eighth year. All participants fundraise a minimum of £175 for Breast Cancer Care to help fund the free services we provide. There are five Pink Ribbonwalk events in 2012 including our brand new Marble Hill Park event, each with a 10 or 20 mile circular route starting and finishing at a stunning location.

• Saturday 12 May – Scone Palace, Perth, Scotland, PH2 6BD
• Saturday 19 May – Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire, OX20 1PX
• Saturday 26 May– Petworth House, Petworth, West Sussex, GU28 0AE
• Saturday 9 June – Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire, SY14 8AH
• Saturday 16 June – Marble Hill Park, Richmond Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 2NL

Typical roles that you may be asked to do on the day are:
• Registration marquee team- A friendly face to sign-in walkers on arrival and/or as they cross the finish line and help with any questions they might have.
• Information and gift marquee team- Providing information on things to do in the local area and directions for friends and family of walkers. There will also be Breast Cancer Care merchandise for sale. Volunteers should have good knowledge of the local area.
• Rest stop teams- Handing out water and refreshments to all walkers when they arrive at your rest stop. Volunteers should be enthusiastic, cheerful and encouraging.
• Course marshals- Ensuring walkers follow the correct route and are safe, especially when crossing roads.
• Finish line team- Welcoming all the walkers across the finish line, handing out medals and food vouchers. Some walkers may cross the line alone, with no family waiting for them, so it is vital that they receive a warm welcome from our volunteers!
• Massage Volunteers - Qualified massage therapists will be giving brief leg massages to walkers after they finish. Volunteers should be qualified, with their own insurance and equipment.

Volunteers will need to be enthusiastic and have good people skills. The ability to work as part of a team and be physically active is crucial as most roles will involve periods of standing and some lifting. Please inform us should you need a less active role.

If you are interested in this role or would like further information please visit our website www.pinkribbonwalk.org.uk or email rwassistant@breastcancercare.org.uk

YOU MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT IF UNDER 18.
